If God is for us, who can be against us… (Rom 8:31)
For me, this has been one of the most precious and transformative verses in the Bible. Moving me from fear towards freedom. It has nothing to do with us being for God; the very opposite in fact. As stated by Paul in Rom. 5:8, “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” this speaks to the power of His love, not ours.
Going beyond simple understanding, and moving toward actively living the truth that “neither persons, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come will ever separate me from the love of Christ”, breads freedom within my soul. God being for me isn’t simply a truth that speaks of His passive emotional love for me, or the good thoughts he has towards me, but so much more. It speaks of His active love declaring that even the people and circumstances that look to be against me are actually and ultimately being used by the Supreme, Almighty, Sovereign God of this Universe… Allowing me to remain at peace…
“Be still and know that I am God.” Ps. 46:10
As I move through 2016, I resolve to be still, remain still, act purposefully, and let God be God.
